Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park responds to the campaign “Make the world cleaner 2017”
The campaign was first initiated by Australia in 1993 and launched globally by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in the third week of September annually. It has become an annual environmental event, bringing together business, community groups, schools, individuals and nations around the world to participate in environmental improvement and protection, waste collection, treatment, recycling, propaganda for the community.
In response to the campaign “Make the world cleaner 2017” under the theme “Waste management for sustainable rural environment”, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park Management Board has implemented a wide range of activities, including:
+ Organizing meetings, hanging panels, mottoes on environmental topic at headquarter of Management Board and sub-divisions.
+ Launching environmental sanitation campaigns, waste collection, dealing with concerned environmental issues; Planting trees in headquarter of Management Board, sub-divisions, Forest Protection Stations, tourism routes and sites in the Park; Clean up after the storm in the area of No.6km FPS, Tam Co cave, Son Trach Martyrs Cemetery, Young Volunteers monument.
+ Launching and maintain movements: Saturday Volunteer Day, Green Sunday;
+ Implementing green lifestyles, energy saving, sustainable use of ecosystems and biodiversity resources.
Activities in response to the campaign “Make the world cleaner 2017” have contributed to raising public awareness and called for the response from the community through cleaning up the environment, protecting the forest, planting trees in the area./.
