According to the classification of invasive level, researchers show that: Mimosa pigra and Merremia sp are at massive level, 03 species at major are Pomacea canaliculata, Achatina fulica and Mimosa diplotricha; the species of Oreochromis mossambicus is at moderate level; Chromolaena odorata, Lantana camra and Eichhornia crassipes are ranged at minor level; 05 species of Leucaena leucocephala, Callisia fragrans, Ageratum conyzoides, Parthenium hysterophorus and Oreochromis mossambicus are at minimal level. The species of Merremia sp. is one of two highly invasive species which are harm to the forest ecosystem in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.
Merremia sp is one plant that scatters strongly and grows fast in many of habitat, covering up whole plants, trees and shrubs. They are vastly existing in the park’s core zone near the Ho Chi Minh highway’s west branch and Road 20. According to the research showed that in an area of 500 square metres, there is an average of nine merremia’s roots and 17 stems. Mimosa pigra is the bushy plant, grow upright, reaching 3 meters in height. It is one of the plants grow strongly in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park buffer zone and they are dangerous to the native species and agricultural land.
In long- term vision, biological and ecological species should be further researched in order to figure out an effective way to control and eliminate the invasiveness of these alien species. Currently, Management Board of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park has recommended some applied measure to mitigate the population of the invasive species./.
